codomomental bulletin #2

The last week was marked by a preview of TOKYO TEFUTEFU’s new song “ao,” the lyrics to which for the first time were written by Nobuhide Imamura, the head of codomomental.

Crushing this world with a thin blue brush,
I froze, still not understanding why I’m crying.
After all, I am not a doll carved out of someone’s imagination.
And yet, I want to taste blood.

The cutting edge of emotion.
I want to embrace your broken feelings with all my might.
For myself, and for you then,
For the impulses that were not fulfilled, For the weak that were not protected,
I will ask forgiveness once more.

You and I fell to our knees and rubbed each other’s foreheads.
Mumbling that let it stay that way.
You wiped my cheeks and I looked into your eyes,
And I’m overwhelmed with the desire to be with you forever.

I want to paint everything with a thin blue brush
And laugh till you drop. And tomorrow it will rain again.
So be it, so be it. I still can’t do anything,
But still, I want to taste blood.

The world is our palm.

Fragments of the “ao” lyrics.

If you don’t suffer a little, you won’t feel alive, will you?
Let’s cry and laugh and sweep it all away together o’ᆺ’o

The world is our palm.

There are times when I have a hard time and want to give it all up, but in the end, if it weren’t for that, I wouldn’t be who I am now.

Let’s be together, hand in hand moving forward.
I’ll be sure to fully embrace you.

It’s such a fun song, but when I perform it at a concert, it fills my heart with warmth and tears just want to (❕) come pouring down.
I want you to dance and have fun with us ⑉の ̫の⑉
Body and soul.
This song can surely create a sense of unity between us🤍☁️💭

I’m the kind of person who likes to spend time casually, so when I’m at home, the only things I think about are ‘I’m hungry,’ ‘I’m warm,’ and so on.
And concerts let me experience emotions I’ve never experienced before, they make me feel like I’m a living person.
There’s blood and tears🫧.

I was overwhelmed with the desire to be with you forever.
I have learned new feelings, again ⑉の ̫の⑉

When I think of the members, my heart overflows with love, it hurts~~ how much I love them, and I’m sure that together we will surely be able to reach that incredibly distant light(ˆ꜆ . ̫ . . )♡”

TOKYO TEFUTEFU is still just beginning. And we also have you, don’t we~~

Take a look at the “tefutefu”, once again determined to try hard as a five, holding each other’s hand tightly and carrying forward, but now from a slightly different angle🐈🤍

From Mary Lust’s Twitter.

Before, I was only singing to protect myself, but I finally feel like I’m singing for you and for this important place.

I want to be together with you.

From Chimura Shifumi’s Twitter.

When I perform this song at a concert with everyone else, it makes me want to stay here forever✊🏻.

From Kagari Kohaku Sekai’s Twitter.

Continuing to make music at a time like this is very hard. The demo that Junta gave me was filled with “impulse.” It’s just that both he and I were having that moment at the time. Let it be something completely new. I’ll be glad if “tefutefu” carries this song forward. It’s all blue and blue and blue(*) as it is. Thank you all for listening.

From Nobuhide Imamura’s Twitter.

(*) – Imamura-san here mentions three characters which in Japanese mean different shades of blue (青, 碧 and 蒼, learn more about their differences here). It seems that the name of the song itself, “ao” (blue) is intentionally written in Latin letters to leave this ambiguity.

Chimura Shifumi posted in her Twitter a short cover of “One, Two, Three” by After the Rain (the opening of Pokemon Journeys: The Series), performed by Chimura Shifumi and Kagari Kohaku Sekai. Remarkably, Chimura made this clip by herself and drew all the illustrations for it, and it became a kind of birthday present for Kagari:

Apparently, we can expect a collaboration between Nonamera and kyunchi (a western hyperpop singer), which will be written by syva – one of the main songwriters of codomomental. Remarkably, syva already collaborated with kyunchi in the following track:
